This setting of a popular Getty hymn is perfect for a worship service opener! The piano opens (solo) with an energetic 4-bar ostinato (which can be repeated if necessary) that reappears in between both stanzas. The melody spans a wide range of tessitura, so congregation will enjoy singing a powerful unison. Two flutes and two violins are offered as color throughout the arrangement. The beautiful accompaniment and the unison congregation could be used both congregationally and chorally (as we did)… For small to medium-sized choirs on low attendance Sundays these could be effective choral pieces or as a way to develop choir and orchestra when (as is our case) some choir members are also instrumentalists.
